Okehampton Community Kitchen is a new organisation that launched during lock down. They focus on delivering homemade meals to vulnerable members of the community. They are currently delivering over 200 meals per week and GSS Property is dedicated to helping them reach even more people who are in need.
Okehampton Community Kitchen aims to boost the mental and physical health of local people while at the same time using local businesses for supplies and surplus donations from growers.
There are two new projects launching currently. One is Friday Night Dinner; a hot take-away meal free for youngsters and after school treats. Some children never experience take-aways and this gives them a boost and creates conversations meaning other organisations can get involved if additional support is needed. It also gives exhausted parents a break from cooking and allows them to have a relaxed Friday night at home. Something we feel we all deserve.
This year Christmas isn't going to be fun for many people. Okehampton community kitchen is pulling together voluntary cooks and creators from across town to make up treat boxes to go out to those who are alone, bereaved, recently lost employment, relationship breakdowns, young carers, home carers and those who work in vital services over Christmas.
One Friday night take-away dinner and Christmas treat box. At GSS Property we are sponsoring this organisation to give XX Friday night dinners to young people, and provide XX Christmas treat boxes. We will also have a donation box in our office, if you are able to contribute please drop into our offices and use the donation box, or you can get more information about Okehampton Community Kitchen.
