What Rooms Are Most Important to Buyers?

15/10/2019

When it comes to selling your home, it can sometimes be challenging to get it to budge. One of the most important things to do to help sell your property is to make it look presentable and ensure it looks its very best. By making the rooms look appealing, you are more likely to sell the home because people will enjoy the appearance, as well as be able to envisage how it would look if they were to live there. To give yourself the best chance of a quick sale, there are particular rooms that buyers care about most, so these are the areas you should focus on.

The Kitchen

Perhaps the most important room in any home is the kitchen. A place to cook and host, the kitchen is a room people spend a lot of time in and, therefore, it is important that it looks perfect. People want a practical and functional kitchen, while also looking appealing. When having viewings, ensure that the kitchen is tidy, there is no clutter on the sides, no washing up in the sink etc. You want the room to look its very best so that potential buyers can imagine the home as their own, and not a messy space of someone else’s.

Master Bedroom

Another room in a home that is important to many buyers is the master bedroom. People go to the bedroom to unwind and relax from day-to-day life, so it is crucial the space is perfect. Again, the same goes for the bedroom as it does the kitchen – you want the room to be tidy, bed made, sides clear, and the floor clean. By doing this, you are presenting the room to its best standard and, therefore, giving your property the best chance of selling.

How to Make the Most of Your Kitchen and Master Bedroom?

It can be challenging to know how to fully optimise the kitchen and master bedroom, but not to worry, as we are here to help you make your home the best that it can be so you can achieve a speedy sale!

Do Some Research

It is a sensible idea to look into what the properties surrounding yours look like. Do they have simple kitchens? Do they have tiles? Do they have wooden floors? Just because you may like yellow walls with blue carpets doesn’t mean that potential buyers will, so you want to consider what would be most appealing to the masses. It may be worth going around the house with a lick of neutral paint, such as magnolia, as this can create a blank canvas for buyers. By creating a blank canvas, you are allowing those who view the property to imagine what they could do with the home to make it their own; this can increase your chances of selling.

Don’t Spend Unnecessary Money

While it is important to make your property look the best it can, don’t go spending thousands on a brand-new kitchen or newly-fitted bathroom if it isn’t essential. Make the most of what you have got already; paint some cabinets, change some handles etc. Just spruce the place up a bit, don’t feel like you need to spend lots of money on improving the whole property.
