Autumn Interior Design Trends

26/09/2019

Decorating your home is perhaps one of the most exciting tasks. With so many different interior design ideas to get inspiration from, it can be tricky to know what route to go down. As we come into the cooler months, it is a brilliant opportunity to decorate your home to suit the autumnal atmosphere. In this blog, we share with you our tips and tricks on how to achieve the perfect autumnal interior.

Introduce Black

By adding some dark furniture, you can not only create a statement but it is also elegant and chic. You can achieve this through permanent features such as kitchen cabinets or a sofa. But, if you would like to change your interior through the seasons, it may be better to opt for items that are easily altered. For example, you could use black cushions in the living room or black artwork in the kitchen. However you choose to interpret black into your interior, you can be assured that it will look both autumnal and classy.

Start Layering

As the nights get colder, it’s time to start getting cosy with layers, but don’t stop at your wardrobe, layer with your interior design too! You can create a warm and snug interior by introducing different textures. Rugs are a perfect comfort for any room as it instantly feels soft under your feet. You can opt for more than one rug in a room and slightly overlap them so you can bring in more colours and patterns to the space, as well as different textures. Consider the classic autumnal colours such as amber hues and mossy greens; these tones can instantly warm up a room and make it feel cosy. Navy is another tone that is popular in the colder months as it oozes calming and relaxing vibes; perfect for the bathroom or bedroom.

Go Neutral

If you aren’t a fan of lots of colour, what better way to decorate your home than with neutral tones? Both elegant and sophisticated, light greys, creams and browns work perfectly in any room of the house. These tones are also diverse and can work with any colour alongside it. So, the majority of your interior could be decorated with neutral hues with pops of colour, such as orange, yellow and green. The injection of colour is subtle but also enough to liven up each room in its own way.

Bring the Outdoors In

A great way to bring in the autumn style is to introduce some outdoor features, such as plants. Bringing in some plants can instantly brighten your home and give it a breath of fresh air. In addition to them looking beautiful and making a great feature in your home, plants have also been known to have a positive influence on stress levels and general wellbeing. Incorporating plants in your interior allows you to feel connected to nature and therefore, calm and relaxed. To add more colour into your interior, perhaps the easiest way to do this is with flowers. They add colour, make the room smell nice and look pretty!

Add Jewel Tones

Jewel tones are hot on-trend at the moment and they are also the perfect colours for autumn. The deep tones of sapphire, emerald, amethyst and ruby can add a touch of luxury to your interior while also making a warm and cosy atmosphere. You can incorporate these tones through painting the wall, adding jewel-toned furniture or by adding accessories. No matter the method you use, you can be sure that your interior will look elegant and chic with the new luxurious style.
